Personality Traits

The Last time that we've met our facilitator sir Randy Gamboa in our subject IT elective 1 or TECHNOPRENEURSHIP, we were all shock when he said that we will having an examination in that day wherein all of us has no idea about the exam and not prepare or study a little about the slides that he discusses to us. But when Sir gave the instructions for the exam all of us get calm because the examinations just a personality traits test but it still considered as our prelim examination wherein it will gives us ideas on how we handle any situations or events base on our characteristics or personality, and base on how we deal with it. as expected in that test it still connected or inline in entrepreneurship and technopreneurship to know how we deal events and situations as entrepreneurs or technopreneur. The result of it is that we are all "somewhat entrepreneur" wherein all of us has the capability of a good entrepreneurial and technopreneurial skills inside of us but not yet developed totally. When our facilitator tell us the result of the exam which came out "somewhat Entrepreneur", I was quite confuse on the result because i have experience yet about business, but I was thinking that i should not get confused of the result because I might have the capability of an entrepreneur but still in process of developing the skills with the help of this subject technopreneurship for the reasons that it teaches us and gives us ideas to be a good entrepreneur or technopreneur someday and what really technopreneur are.

Personality traits:

Personality are defined as:
• Habitual patterns and qualities of behavior of any individual as expressed by physical and mental activities and attitudes; distinctive individual qualities of a person, considered collectively.

• The complex of qualities and characteristics seen as being distinctive to a group, nation, place, etc.

• The sum of such qualities seen as being capable of making, or likely to make, a favorable impression on other people.

• Informal personal attractiveness; engaging manner or qualities

Traits are defined as:

"A distinguishing quality or characteristic, as of personality." In other words, this means that personality traits are the distinguishing characteristics that make you "you." Personality traits are the unique set of characteristics and qualities that only you possess. While a lot of people might have similar personality traits, each person combines these traits in a different way, to create one unique, irreplaceable conglomeration of traits that make up their individual personality.

The Five Major Personality Traits

• Openness: Openness refers to how open you are to experiencing new things. Do you enjoy learning new ideas and concepts or are you frightened of change?

• Conscientiousness: Conscientiousness refers to how dedicated you are. When you say you are going to do something do you follow through? Do you have a strong work ethic?

• Extraversion: Extraversion asks how comfortable you are in the company of others? Do you prefer to be by yourself or in a crowd? Do you like to be the life of the party?

• Agreeableness: Do you try to get along with people or do you go out of your way to be contentious and start a fight?

• Neuroticism: How emotionally stable are you? Do you get upset over the little things, or do they roll off your back?

Personality traits are defined as person personality or person’s character. All people or human beings are made with different personalities or should i say uniqueness of personalities, because God created us with difference or with uniqueness though there some in common but totally we are different from each other and each one of the us has unique ability or capability that no one can do which makes him or her unique from others. Person’s personality increases or developed as years pass by because of how we deal or handle thing or situations in our life as we gain experience through communicating with others, get to know others and share some experiences from others that makes your personality grow more. Like an entrepreneur or technopreneur, in order to be successful, gain respect or be respect by your employees you should show the good characteristic of a good Technopreneur or entrepreneur because good personality leads to a your success.

Personality traits test is a test wherein it evaluates your characteristic or personality bases on some events and you how you handle those events.

Personality traits Test are consist of: IQ (Intelligence Quotient), EQ (Emotional Quotient), AQ (Adversity Quotient)

First is IQ or intelligence Quotient, as define by some sites, IQ Stands for Intelligence Quotient is a measure of relative intelligence determined by a standardized test? The first Intelligence test was created in 1905 by Alfred Binet and Théophile Simon to determine which French school children were too “slow” to benefit from regular instruction. Binet came up with the idea of mental age when he noticed that children are increasingly able to learn difficult concepts and perform difficult tasks as they get older. Most children reach the same level of complexity at about the same time, but some children are slower reaching those levels.
Mental Age/Chronological Age X 100 = Intelligence Quotient

As I’ve notice in this kind of test which is Intelligence test, it mostly focuses on intelligence of a person who calculates its intelligence to determine how intelligent they are in answering difficult questions. With the help of this kind of test, we may able to know if our knowledge is not enough or far enough to pass.

IQ or Intelligence quotient is one factor to be a successful person but it is not the most important or most needed test to know for your success. Intelligence quotient test evaluates intelligence of an individual person. It does not evaluate emotional intelligence because it mostly focused to your knowledge you have.

In some universities, in order to study in that university you must first took IQ test before you can be enrolled in the particular to know if you've pass the qualifications or standards of that particular school. In this type of exam you will know if you’re successfully pass the test and be a student in that school and with the help of this you may also able to distinguish your Intelligence or knowledge.

Second is EQ or Emotional Quotient. In the early 1990s, Dr. John Mayer, Ph.D., and Dr. Peter Salovey, Ph.D., introduced the term "emotional intelligence" in the Journal of Personality Assessment. They used this term to describe a person's ability to understand his or her own emotions and the emotions of others and to act appropriately based on this understanding. Then in 1995, psychologist Daniel Goleman popularized this term with his book Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ.
EQ actually stands for Emotional Intelligence Quotient. Much like an intelligence quotient, or IQ, an EQ is said to be a measure of a person’s emotional Intelligence. However, there is much debate surrounding the legitimacy of a definition of emotional intelligence quotient, primarily because there is no standard against which it can be measured.

Emotional Quotient test is a type of test which mostly focuses on person’s emotions for some events and situations which letting them assume that they are currently in that situation or events which identify their intelligence on how they cope up their self in that kind of situation or events. in addition to this, emotional quotient for me is more important than IQ test or Intelligence quotient test as technopreneur because having the high Intelligence but can’t handle emotional events and situations. Emotions really affect ones personality, so you should know to deal or understand your emotions in order to handle things that affect your entire life.
Emotional quotient test is a type of test wherein it gives possible situations or scenario of a person and then you’ll just answer it by rating it on how you agree in that given situations. In addition, EQ is a type of test which pertaining to your emotional intelligence to cope in your emotional problems that affect your personality.

And the last is AQ or Adversity Quotient. Adversity Quotient is rooted in three sciences: psychoneuroimmunology, neurophysiology, and cognitive psychology. They are its building blocks. Hundreds of research studies lend support to the role AQ plays in determining one’s ability to triumph over obstacles.

To measure AQ, Stoltz developed an assessment instrument called Adversity Response Profile (ARP).

The Adversity Response Profile is the only scientifically-grounded tool in existence for measuring how effectively one deals with adversity, or one’s AQ. AQ, according to him, is a valid predictor of one’s success, stress-threshold, performance, risk-taking, capacity for change, productivity, perseverance, improvement, energy, and health.

The ARP is a highly valid assessment instrument based on 25 years of research and 1000+ studies at more than 150 universities and organizations worldwide. Unlike IQ, AQ can be improved!

AQ scores fall into 3 broad bands, with an expected normal distribution.

Low (0-59) AQ characteristics:
• Low levels of motivation, energy, performance, and persistence.
• Tendency to ‘catastrophize’ events.

Moderate (95-134) AQ characteristics:
• Under utilization of potential.
• Problems take a significant and unnecessary toll, making climbing difficult.
• A sense of helplessness and despair arises from time to time.

High AQ (166-200) characteristics:
• Able to withstand significant adversity and continue forward and upward progress.
• Maintains appropriate perspective on events and responses to them.

AQ response is comprised of four CORE dimensions. Understanding them is the first step toward improving your response to adversity, expanding your capacity, and, ultimately, increasing your overall AQ.

Now, look at your CORE breakdown and determine which aspects of the AQ you need to improve.

C = Control
To what extent can you influence the situation?
How much control do you perceive you have?
Those with higher AQs perceive they have significantly more control and influence in adverse situations than do those with lower AQs. Even in situations that appear overwhelming or out of their hands, those with higher AQs find some facet of the situation they can influence. Those with lower AQs respond as if they have little or no control and often give up.

O = Ownership
To what extent do you hold yourself responsible for improving this situation?
To what extent are you accountable to play some role in making it better?
Accountability is the backbone of action. Those with higher AQs hold themselves accountable for dealing with situations regardless of their cause. Those with lower AQs deflect accountability and most often feel victimized and helpless.

R = Reach
How far does the fallout of this situation reach into other areas of your work or life?
To what extent does the adversity extend beyond the situation at hand?
Keeping the fallout under control and limiting the reach of adversity is essential for efficient and effective problem solving. Those with higher AQs keep setbacks and challenges in their place, not letting them infest the healthy areas of their work and lives. Those with lower AQs tend to catastrophize, allowing a setback in one area to bleed into other, unrelated areas and become destructive.

E = Endurance
How long will the adversity endure?
Seeing beyond even enormous difficulties is an essential skill for maintaining hope. Those with higher AQs have the uncanny ability to see past the most interminable difficulties and maintain hope and optimism. Those with lower AQs see adversity as dragging on indefinitely, if not permanently.

Note: The average ARP score is 147.5.

Adversity for me is a type of test wherein it evaluates myself on how to deals situations and how I cope up with this kind of situations. As technopreneur adversity quotient test is really a good help for me in order to know how to deal things in times of downfall. It priors on how you deal thing out in what you really feel.
