Interpersonal skills
We are enrolled in the subject Field Trip and Seminar or FTS because it is in our curriculum. As a part of the said subject we will having a field trip and seminar. As decided of the majority, we will having a 1 major fieldtrip, 1 national seminar, 1 minor field trip, and 1 interpersonal skills.
We have conducted our first part of the said subject in our school last July 21, 2010. In our interpersonal skill the theme of that activities is to gain and meet new friend in order to get closer to others and eliminate the gap between the evening class and day class. In that kind of activity I didn’t really expect to gain lots of new friends. I was happy and enjoyed in that time even though at first I don’t even know each one of my group mates.
At the first part of the activity we have 2 speakers who will share something related to the theme of the activity. The first speaker was the guidance councilor our school. She shared something about gaining new friends and how to socialize with others. As she discusses it I’m quite bored but not really, as a matter of fact I’m still listening to her because I’m interested on it. In the second speaker, i didn’t feel bored on him for the reason that he deliver it well. And I was touch on what he is saying.
After the discussion in the morning we have an activity that is really enjoying because we are like kids playing with each other. As we conduct the said activity we have realized something that might help us in our daily lives.
At the end of the day as we the end activity and go home each of our houses we have the happy memories stored in us ad the purpose of that activity is successful because all of us able to socialized with others and maker friend with them.

Sutherland
As we visited the Sutherland Global Services, one of their employee tour us in their company and will explain further about the company. As he discusses about Sutherland Global Services, he mentioned on how easily to get promoted in that company if you are really interested to work for them. As a matter of fact his one of their employee that been promoted i think in just 3 to 5 months.
In that company I have learned that Sutherland global services also accept trainings and OJT’s in some of the universities within Davao city. As we walked in their company, I have noticed that they have many data center in their company for their computer units to access operating systems and applications. I have also learned that they are using wyse system in their computer that serves as their system unit that will communicate to their data center to request and access some applications. Their data center,I think serve as the mainframe.
As we go along with the tour I’m quite amaze in the security they have because its really strict and their guards are really presentable and in proper manner. I have also noticed that their employees are really enjoying staying in the company and as matter of fact I’m quite interested to work for them in the future if given a chance.

Field Trip and Seminars Overview
Field Trip and Seminar is one of our subject enrolled in this semester and also it is part of the curriculum of both course of Computer Science and Information Technology in the University Of Southeastern Philippines Obrero Campus.
In this Subject we were given the chance on the type Field trip that we will be having and most of us have decide to conduct it to Metro Manila. All of us were excited to our field trip but before we have our Major Field trip at Metro Manila we have conducted first our interpersonal skill which is also part of that same subject in our School, then we have also conducted our Minor filed trip at Sutherland Global Services within Davao City.
So here comes our Major Field Trip and educational tour at Metro Manila to complete the requirements of our subject FTS. By the way the agency that we choose for our educational tour was the Maynilad tours and Educational Services. In our first day in Metro Manila, we directly go to Jade valley for our lunch because we have arrived almost 12:00 noon. Then we visited our first company visit at Bayan telecommunications. All that the companies we visited for our five days Educational Tour was the Bayantel, University of the Philippines Diliman Campus ITTC, SeaChange, IBM Innovation Center, Advance Science and Technology Institute, Social Security System, Philippine Long Distance Telephone, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, and Telecommunications Training Institute. We have also conducted recreational Activities at Tagaytay and Enchanted Kingdom for us to be not bored on our Tour. We have also visited some malls for us to buy for our giveaways as we comeback to Davao City.
Day 1 (October 4, 2010)

We went to the Bayan telecommunication (Bayantel) which is located at Roosevelt Avenue, Quezon City.

What I’ve learned?
What I’ve learned in the bayantel short for Bayan Telecommunications? I think I’ve learned that the foundation of their networking is strong for the reason that it can hold millions of people to maintain good services that they offered. I also learned that the areas of their responsibility are not their choice in order to lessen the conflicts that will be making. Other telecommunicating companies are also assigned like the Bayan Telecommunications.
What I like?
I like the way that the company manages the problems and how they cope in their top competitor to main a good services offered to their clients.
What I didn’t like?
What I don’t like at Bayantel? I think that I didn’t like is the person who is in charge of introducing bayan. Not literally not like but I just don’t like how handles us because the information and the time given for us is to less to explore and know more about bayantel. I still understand that we have just given lessen time to visit the bayantel because they will be having a meeting in that day. Our day was still good but we just lack some info that we should now, but still it’s ok because we find it one of the best telecommunicating companies in the Philippines. In the side of the services and facilities, for me it’s perfect because bayantel won’t grow this much if they are not good in terms of their services.
Day 2 (October 5, 2010)

We went to visit University of the Philippines, Diliman Campus and UP Ayala Techno hub at Quezon City
UP Diliman Campus
In our second day our destination was in the Up Diliman campus for our national seminar which is part of the Educational tour that we have. I think the UP ITTC invited 8 guess speakers if I’m not mistaken that will share their knowledge and encourage us more to still pursue in the field that were taking now. They were all both good speakers because the knowledge that they’ve shared and the things that they’ve made was very amazing because we were all amazed in what the achievements they have, and I just realized that I’m really behind and out dated in the new trend of applications and technologies nowadays. I’m an Information technology student but out dated of the new trends of this generation.
What I’ve learned?
• I’ve have learn that in order to win your thesis we should follow some steps.
o first is thinking about it Stage.
o second is proposal Stage.
o third is burning your eye brow stage.
o forth is the Nerve Wracking Stage.
o and the last is the I did it Stage.
• I’ve also learned that in the game industry, grades are not important to formulate new games. As what I’ve read in the slide of miss Len Degracia “forget all about grades”, “its all About Marketability”, and “its all about Gearing yourself towards that dream job”. In this kind of the industry she introduces “INTEREST” and “PASSION” are some of those qualifications.
What I like?
The part of the seminar I like most is in the part of miss Len Degracia who is one of the guess speakers who are been invited for our seminar. Miss Len Degracia made us realized to really choose and know what we really love to do. She told us in the field of graphic designing there are no high grades requirement to be qualified in their company because for them they don’t care of the grades, they just care of how passionate you are in engaging graphics designing and other related to the gaming industry because in this field of job interest and passion is really the requirement for you to be qualified and be successful like her and them.
What I didn’t like?
The one that makes me irritate and make me yawn while the seminar is going on is Professor Carloss Bott. Even though his topic is somewhat interesting but the way he delivered it is not that good. He talks so fast and release some words and terminology that we can’t easily understand.
SeaChange
What I’ve learned?
• I’ve learned that SeaChange brings programmatic innovations.
• I’ve learned that it gives highest quality of products and services.
• I’ve learned that the system they use and produce are reliable
• SeaChange products and services are acquiring, storing, managing and streaming video content and applications for those companies that demand superior performance
What I like?
What I like about SeaChange is their video servers and set up box which holds the channels that are been passing to the clients who request additional features. I also like the technology they offer for their consumer which just likes a CD or DVD player. Those technology they offer is really interesting because it can be personalized you can watch movies on it like a CD that can be pause. It also has background music when you turn it on.
What I didn’t like?
It makes me bored when the General Manager of SeaChange introduces and discuss about their company. We can’t understand what he is saying to us because he speaks to fast and knowing that he is a foreigner his English was so profound sometimes.
IBM Innovation Center
What I’ve learned?
I’ve gain knowledge that IBM change their services from hardware they shift from software, I think for the reason software are more productive than hardware because nowadays software and applications are expanding very fast and it is a big help than hardware and most of the hardware need applications in order to run and to fully use it. I’ve also learn that some of their employees are not really computer literate and haven’t graduated with a course of Information technology, Computer science or any computer related courses.
What I like?
What I like in the IBM Innovation Center is the free access in their data center and free usage of some of their vacant units for those people who wants to developed applications and innovate software because with this help they offer people may now do better applications that can be a help to our industry which may be adopt by the IBM if it is really a big help fully functional. I also like the facilities they have and technologies they use
What I didn’t like?
In terms of their company I don’t have something I really I didn’t like because it’s really amazing. The thing that I just I didn’t like am that I’m quite unsatisfied of the tour we have in the IBM. Its not that I want to demand but I just want to see and learn more in their company because I’m quite interested about their company and how the company made it to success.

We went to visit Advance Science and Technology institute at C.P, Diliman, QC and Social Security System at East Ave. QC.
Embedded Technologies
What I’ve learned?
I’ve learned that they are using Embedded System which is a microprocessor-based device with a built in operation system. I’ve also learned that they are developing technologies that are much cheaper and customizable than the other technologies that are existing nowadays. I notice that most project of the Embedded Technology team are mostly for the improvement of our industry like weather monitoring and other technologies.
What I like?
I like the technologies they developed like:
• GSM Data Terminal
• PICME Microcontroller Starter Kit
• GSM/ GPRS Data Acquisition Terminal
• Digital Wood Moisture Meter
• Digital Multimeter
I also like their passion in developing this kind of technologies that are really a big help nowadays.
What I didn’t like? I’m quite unsatisfied in Embedded Technologies at ASTI because we didn’t saw their projects and the technologies that they developed that is now out in the market for the reason that we lack of time
Bayanihan Linux
What I’ve learned?
I’ve learned that Bayanihan Linux team is providing best alternative with low cost but effective desktop solutions for everybody. I’ve also learn that Bayanihan linux Operating Systems are made by Filipino team and now they have their latest version of Bayanihan Linux 5 which is their latest version of Bayanihan Linux Operating System. Previous Version of Bayanihan are:
• Bayanihan Linux Version 1- which is out last June 2002
• Bayanihan Linux Version 2- which is out last Feb 2003
• Bayanihan Linux Version 3- which is out last Feb 2004
• Bayanihan Linux Version 3.1- which is out last Sept 2004
• Bayanihan Linux Version 4- which is out last Nov 2006
• Bayanihan Linux Version 5- the latest version as of now
What I like?
I like the Operating System they produces and develop even if it is my first time to hear and saw that kind of Operating System, because we always stick to windows made by Microsoft Company. I and most people would really like their Operating systems because it is user friendly, customizable if you like, freeware or downloadable for it has free downloads from the internet. I also like the User Interface and other features of it.
What I didn’t like?
What I didn’t like in the bayanihan linux is that their answers are inconsistent. i also don’t like the time we spent is too short.
Social Security System
What I’ve learned?
What I have learn from the company visit we have at Social Security System is that this year the Social Security System and Land Bank of the Philippines recently signed a memorandum of Agreement (MDA) allowing the latter to release salary loans of Social Security System members through the bank facilities as an alternative means of getting their loans aside from the usual mailed check. I’ve also learned that the Social Security System has implemented new ID System for better Security.
What I like?
• I like the benefits they offer for their customers.
• I like the security of the company for protection purposes from the hackers that attempting to enter to main of the SSS
• I also like the way security membership they offer in their customers which is the UMID or the Unified Multipurpose ID System.
What I didn’t like?
So far I have no problem encounter as we visit at Social Security System because the tour was satisfying and they also answered all questions consistently.

We went to visit Philippine Long Distance Telephone or PLDT.
PLDT
What I’ve learned?
Philippine Long Distance Telephone or we called as the PLDT. We visited their InnoLab or the Innovation Laboratory and Telecommunication and Education Centre which is located at Boni Avenue, Mandaluyong City Manila. It was founded at November 28, 1928 which it is the Age of Birth (1928-1938). I’ve discovered also that the Monophone was first introduced at the Age of destruction (1939-1949). At the Age of Change (1959-1968), the nicknamed “the mouse” was introduced. It is a computer mouse while it is called mouse because its tail came out at the end and this time PLDT was headed by Don Ramon Conjuangco. Age of Control (1969-1978), this time PLDT’s celebrate it’s commemorate stamp and it was their 50th anniversary
What I like?
I am grateful for the tour for us on their company and explain every detail on how they start up on their company and introduce us on their new system which they are using as well as they are good at us. I also do like Engineer Roland because I he deliver all the information to us perfectly, as matter of fact I was so amazed on him because of his intelligence he have
What I didn’t like?
As what I have experience in the PLDT we have great time spend. In term of their facilities and services is also great, the thing that I just don’t like is that we have spent lesser time in the discussion.
Day 5 (October 8, 2010)

We went to visit MMDA at Mandaluyom Quezon City and TTI at Valenzuela
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority
What I’ve learned?
As we visited at MMDA, I’ve learned that the technology that they only use in monitoring the Street is just the CCTV cameras that can be viewed in their office or base. I’ve also learned that they also have data center like the other company we visited.
What I like
I like the CCTV cameras they put in every street in Manila in order to monitor daily if the motorist are following and abiding the rules. They also use it for helping others that in danger just like what happens when the typhoon Ondoy Strike Manila that causes millions of damages. I also like the LCD monitors they have because I enjoy watching those video that are exceed in the other monitor. I also like their quick respond to the people who is in danger.
What I didn’t like?
So far I did see anything that makes me annoy at the MMDA because they treat as well there. They make as see how they know if there is an accident or problem at the street by using the CCTV camera.
Telecoms Training Institute
What I’ve learned?
I discovered about TELOF’s Telecommunications Training Institute or TTI was originally established for the purpose of delivering telecommunications training programs to TELOF employees. They offer training programs were opened to other interested parties, such as: technical staff of PTEs, Image employees from other government agencies, students, out-of-school youths, and foreign students to name a few. They also use some of the network topology and technology.
What I like?
By initiating us to their equipment and machine they are using have a sense for me for us to know that they using a different machine to other establishment. I also like the machines they use because even if it’s quite old stil the functionality of is still fully functional and helpful for their trainees
What I didn’t like?
I didn’t like the room that we have stay for the discussion because it’s too hot. And I also don’t like the scenario in that room because I can’t really understand the speakers is saying.
Appendix
What I can recommend for the improvement of the Field Trip and Seminar?
To those in coming 3rd year students who will take this subject, I suggest that they save and prepare money for this subject because it really expensive. To those who are interested in this subject I can say that the money you’ll spend in this Educational Tour is satisfying because we will engaged in the new trends of technologies that the companies mostly used.
So as the first batch of this subject I think are many recommendation that could be recommend in order to fully succeed in that kind of activity. For me my recommendation is to fix all the schedules and agenda so that during the actual day of the Field Trip everything is organized and clear because what I have experienced in our major Field Trip and Seminar at Metro Manila it has many changes done in the schedule especially in the buses assigned. I would also recommend to have fair company visit to all students for the student to have same knowledge gained in the said Field trip because for me it’s quite unfair in the side of other group of students.

We visited their InnoLab or the Innovation Laboratory and Telecommunication and Education Centre which is located at Boni Avenue, Mandaluyong City Manila. It was founded at November 28, 1928 which it is the Age of Birth (1928-1938). I’ve discovered also that the Monophone was first introduced at the Age of destruction (1939-1949). At the Age of Change (1959-1968), the nicknamed “the mouse” was introduced. It is a computer mouse while it is called mouse because its tail came out at the end and this time PLDT was headed by Don Ramon Conjuangco. What I like?
I am grateful for the tour for us on their company and explain every detail on how they start up on their company and introduce us on their new system which they are using as well as they are good at us. What I didn’t like?
As what I have experience in the PLDT we have great time spend. In term of their facilities and services is also great, the thing that I just don’t like is that we have spent lesser time in the discussion.

We went to visit MMDA at Mandaluyom Quezon City and TTI at Valenzuela

What I’ve learned?
As we visited at MMDA, I’ve learned that the technology that they only use in monitoring the Street is just the CCTV cameras that can be viewed in their office or base. I’ve also learned that they also have data center like the other company we visited.
What I like
I like the CCTV cameras they put in every street in Manila in order to monitor daily if the motorist are following and abiding the rules. They also use it for helping others that in danger just like what happens when the typhoon Ondoy Strike Manila that causes millions of damages. I also like the LCD monitors they have because I enjoy watching those video that are exceed in the other monitor. I also like their quick respond to the people who is in danger.
What I didn’t like?
So far I did see anything that makes me annoy at the MMDA because they treat as well there. They make as see how they know if there is an accident or problem at the street by using the CCTV camera.
Telecoms Training Institute
What I’ve learned?
I discovered about TELOF’s Telecommunications Training Institute or TTI was originally established for the purpose of delivering telecommunications training programs to TELOF employees. They offer training programs were opened to other interested parties, such as: technical staff of PTEs, Image employees from other government agencies, students, out-of-school youths, and foreign students to name a few. They also use some of the network topology and technology.
What I like?
By initiating us to their equipment and machine they are using have a sense for me for us to know that they using a different machine to other establishment. I also like the machines they use because even if it’s quite old stil the functionality of is still fully functional and helpful for their trainees
What I didn’t like?
I didn’t like the room that we have stay for the discussion because it’s too hot. And I also don’t like the scenario in that room because I can’t really understand the speakers is saying.

What I can recommend for the improvement of the Field Trip and Seminar?
To those in coming 3rd year students who will take this subject, I suggest that they save and prepare money for this subject because it really expensive. To those who are interested in this subject I can say that the money you’ll spend in this Educational Tour is satisfying because we will engaged in the new trends of technologies that the companies mostly used.
So as the first batch of this subject I think are many recommendation that could be recommend in order to fully succeed in that kind of activity. For me my recommendation is to fix all the schedules and agenda so that during the actual day of the Field Trip everything is organized and clear because what I have experienced in our major Field Trip and Seminar at Metro Manila it has many changes done in the schedule especially in the buses assigned. I would also recommend to have fair company visit to all students for the student to have same knowledge gained in the said Field trip because for me it’s quite unfair in the side of other group of students.

Techno Business
Last last last week, our facilitator gave all of us a group task which will be presented on him the following week and that is a business proposal. He gave us that task because we have a subject on him of IT elective 1 or mostly known as . As a part of completion of this subject, we are required to create a business proposal. Now our group has proposed a business proposal which we decided to be proposed base on some questions like: What are the things we love? What are our best at and what are our irritants? Now we have finish our group task which sir Gamboa have given us.
For me, constructing or proposing a business plan is not an easy task to do like what others are thinking, because creating a business proposal are quiet hassle, time consuming and a brain draining task to do, for the reasons that most existence of new business for now just rarely succeed with their business. Although most new businesses doesn’t really level up their business, still there are some new businesses are successful because they plan and think it very hardly to put up that business. So before I may implement my desired techno business, first thing that should be done is to think really hard on what should be the perfect techno business in this time. Putting up business is not that easy because there many things to be considered in order for your techno business grow successfully.
After a week, our facilitator gave us again another task which is a techno business. Our facilitator now gave us an opportunity to make our own techno business individually, then describe the business, its nature and then identify who are the beneficiaries and client of my own techno business. I will name my techno business as . I have decided to have this kind of techno business because even if there are many businesses that already exist like what I propose, still the demand of it doesn’t change, and even if I have many big competitors in this kind of business, it’s not a reason to easily give up on it because a good technopreneur and entrepreneur doesn’t easily give up on something that hinders them on something they really and love want to do like making our own techno business.
Before I will formally introduce the techno business I want to have, let us first define what a techno business is.

Techno business played a great role in the business world for the reasons like it helps people to their job in faster manner, it lessens the effort consumed to that particular task, and all are automated. In the side of communication in the business technology still exists like cellular phones computers, internet, and telephones. Those communicating technologies plays a big part I the business because without those technologies they might not able to negotiate or transact their transaction in other places, and without those technologies or devices exist businesses man will find hard to communicate each other. As what I really observed nowadays in most businesses, most are really using technologies in their businesses to lighten the task, and to easily finish the job, and it is not time consuming. And technologies to business are already part of the business world now up to forever.
Now given a chance to put the techno business I really want.I have in my mind a business that are already existing and a really common one but still a good techno business that should be implemented, and that is type of business which is mostly focus on editing, like video editing, film or movie editing, photo editing and music editing. There is other features offered, and that is animation which commonly known because of animated films and videos. This techno business I want is to big for me alone to handle and manage it without a big and wide idea yet, so putting up a business like that needs really a help of other with the expertise that I really need which knows how to use software in movie editing, animations, music editing, and others services that my business has.
This business I think just came out to my mind, even though I really admit that I have no great and awesome talent of editing films or movie, video, audio, photos and animating, still I want to pursue on what I want business because it give me interest, and I think it still one of the in demand businesses so far because editing is now widely use just like in movie making and animation for animated movies and shows. Although I have totally talent with regards to my business, still I want it, I don’t why but it’s what I want techno business. Like Steve Jobs enrolled in a calligraphy school, because of his interest of that calligraphy thing it helps him a lot in the future and adopts it to his creations and then became famous. And with that, now our computers have different font styles.
My techno business will be named as “Eedit”. Eedit is a type of business which edits videos, movie or films, pictures, music and others. This is an online business which renders online services. If you ask how would it be possible? If the client wants to let us edit the film or video or movie, the client will provide all and exact details on how should the film, video, or movie would look like that. Then before we can render the services we offer, the client must first register, and then also register his or her credit card. In the animation service we are accepting making animated graphics, videos, and others which is animated, but if there some clients that want us to finish his or her unfinished animation, still its fine to us as long as the exact details needed are given exactly in order to satisfy their needs and to aware some conflicts because miss lacking of the details that are been given. For the clients that are not interested or just lazy to visit our site, they may also visit us to our office or main company for clarifications or for other information needed to be known by the client or maybe they will give contract to work for a big project. I know I’m being really ambitious, but we might not know it will happen because my business are possibly be discover if they will be impress in the services we offered or if they will be amaze or something that make them decide to work with us.
My Eedit business will be uploading some sample edited videos and other samples regarding to the services we offer in order to let them be encourage more to visit us. Those samples are uploaded for the client know how we do editing and to emphasized the quality of our services.

I’ve been inspired more to pursue this kind of techno business because of the demand and success that I may be having when the business will be more productive and will expand. Like the other companies that are implementing editing stuff, most of them are successful because of its demand from their generation until now, and I know in the future times editing will still exist and that what’s the best part of this kind of techno business which I decided to have. Editing don’t just stick on videos, film, movie, music, picture, animations and others, because there many ways were editing may exist. And as my business will grow, I will adopt those other things in order to be more productive If it really helps my techno business.
I’m not being so ambitious but I want my company or business also be successful or be known like the Pixar animation or other successful business which is most likely with the techno business I want. Even though it’s quiet impossible or ambitious but with God’s grace we will succeed in what we really want because he don’t live us. So when problems and trials come be strong and face it in order to win it, because every business really encounter problems and scenarios like that, just like our life, everyday that we spend in our life there’s a trials and problems and when we face it we will win against it and overcome or trials and problems that weakens us. Just have faith and believe that God is always you, and there in no impossible on him, all are possible beyond or imaginations.
With this type of techno business I choose, my target beneficiaries and clients are everybody who love what we do. Big businesses are involve in our target client and we will considered them as our best client for the reason that business man’s businessman are love advertising for their products to be known. All people who love editing stuff like photo editing are we also considered as our target clients. Photo editing is one best editing stuff that editors produce because people are easily amaze on something especially when they sometimes think on how editors do those things. Some clients are not totally amaze or impress on some works or art of the editors for the reason that most of those not interested clients are literate on editing or have knowledge on how to edit those stuff like editors. Although there that kind of instances comes, still many are still amaze on it because as years pass by, editors explores another things techniques and software’s or anything that may help them in order to let our target clients and beneficiaries are still loyal to our capability.
Being updated to new editing software is one of the tasks that the editor and the company should do to be able to still satisfy the client’s needs and wants. Giving the exact needs of the clients is really the important thing to us in our company, not just to us but also to all who are future technopreneur and presently technopreneur like us. Those target clients and beneficiaries of my techno business are plays really a big part on my techno business because they are the one who will be my customers, so without them my techno business is useless. Giving importance and being approachable to your clients is really not that hard thing to do. Though there times that customers are strict or may be hardheaded, just stay calm and go with the follow, keep your temper in a normal level and stay chill and relax because if you let you emotions prevail you and your company will suffer for the consequences you made.
